Discord noise suppression: the Krisp toggle you already own

Discord already ships Krisp inside it. You’re one toggle away from not being the loud one — here’s the exact path, the settings around it worth fixing while the panel’s open, and the stacking mistake to skip.

Quick route mid-call: quick toggle also lives in the voice-channel panel. What you’re enabling: Discord's built-in suppression is powered by Krisp, runs on-device, free for all users — and filters only your own outgoing noise — teammates need their own toggle.

Set the input path deliberately while you’re in there

One suppressor per path

If your mic already routes through Broadcast, RTX Voice or Sonar’s ClearCast, run Discord’s toggle OFF or at most low — stacked suppressors are how streamers end up sounding like a phone call from 2004. One engine per signal path, chosen by your router lane.

What the toggle can’t do

It lives inside Discord. Your OBS stream audio, Zoom calls and other apps hear your raw mic — that’s what the OBS filter and, for the cross-app-everywhere case, the paid Krisp lane are for. Silent mic rather than noisy mic? Triage page, next door.

Lobby questions

How do I turn on noise suppression in Discord?
User Settings → Voice & Video → scroll to the Noise Suppression section → select Krisp. There’s also a quick toggle in the voice-channel panel once you’re connected. Free, on-device, all users.
Is Discord’s noise suppression actually Krisp?
Yes — Discord licenses Krisp’s engine and runs it locally on your machine; your audio isn’t shipped to Krisp’s servers. It’s the same core tech the standalone paid app is built around, scoped to Discord.
Why do I still hear my teammate’s vacuum cleaner?
Because suppression is per-person and outbound: the toggle cleans what YOU send. Your teammate needs their own toggle on — send them this page, it’s faster than resentment.
